Patrick Beaton joins JLA as Senior Project Designer in the Denver Office

JLA Welcomes Patrick Beaton as a Senior Project Designer

DENVER — JLA Architects is pleased to welcome Patrick Beaton to our Denver team as a Senior Project Designer. Patrick brings more than 25 years of design leadership experience across a range of project types, including K-12 and higher education, civic, mixed-use, and multifamily developments.

Over the course of his career, he has held senior design roles at some of the most respected architecture firms in Colorado and Montana. He also brings an entrepreneurial perspective as the founder of his own firm, Beaton Design.

Patrick’s portfolio includes over a dozen award-winning projects such as The Denver Hospice, Elk Camp Gondola Terminal & Restaurant (Snowmass, CO), Rawlins Elementary School (Rawlings, Wyoming), and the Eagle Valley Elementary School (Eagle, CO). Many of his designs have received accolades from AIA, CEFPI, and national publications like LUXE Magazine.

“Patrick’s design ethos aligns deeply with our values at JLA,” said Erik Jansson, Vice President and Denver Office Director. “He brings creative leadership, mentorship, and an unmatched depth of experience across markets. We’re thrilled to have him on board as we continue growing our Denver presence.”

In addition to his impressive project experience, Patrick is passionate about cultivating strong client relationships and leading highly collaborative design processes. In nearly all his projects, he has led the design and acted as the primary interface with clients. Over time, he has developed a collaborative design process that fully engages the client. Decisions are made strategically and early in the process, allowing a high degree of flexibility within the design for cost and constructability.

When asked why he wanted to join JLA, Patrick shared:

“I was intrigued by JLA’s commitment to work-life balance, the opportunity to join a growing office, and to return ‘home’ to the Mile High City!”

Learn More About Patrick

What drew you to architecture? What do you love about it?

It was really the artistic side of architecture that drew me into the profession.  I see architecture as the opportunity to bridge the gap between the built and natural environment to derive place.

What’s your favorite (or most unique) project you’ve worked on and why?

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite…yet.  Maybe at the end of my career, I’ll have a favorite — at least that’s the goal!

What do you do for fun? Do you have any hobbies or special interests?

I spend my “fun time” exploring the great outdoors of the Intermountain West (and beyond) with my son and Sheltie companion!  I snowboard, ski, hike, paddle, etc.  It’s fun to discover new and interesting ways to “get out in it!”

Are you involved in the community? What causes/organizations mean the most to you?

I’m very happy to be back “home” in the Mile High City!  I’ll be looking for ways to become re-engaged in the community after a five-year hiatus in Montana!
