Overview
The Sun Prairie Ice Arena, adjacent to Sun Prairie High School, was an eight-year dream of the Sun Prairie Youth Hockey Association. JLA’s design team worked closely with the contractor to ensure a budget-friendly and efficient design. The initial program called for a two-story building, which would’ve required additional code considerations including fireproofing all steel beams. Instead, the design team worked with the site’s grade plane to allow for higher ceiling heights and mezzanines while still staying within code for a one-story structure.
The ice arena was recognized as a Project of Distinction by ABC-Wisconsin.
