Overview
The Current Two is the final phase of the Monona Riverfront project. Paying homage to the Yahara watershed, the building’s design references nautical geometries–the masonry pier on its exterior reference boat masts. The exterior is clad with the same material palette as the first phase mixed-use building, intentionally creating a sister building, with similar architectural strategies to have a consistent aesthetic reinforcing the sense of place central to this development.
The Current Two features a generous green roof offering residents a private outdoor experience that feels like an extension of Grand Crossing park. The green roof takes some organizational cues from the building’s symmetry and is punctuated with pergolas, grilling areas, seating areas, open lawn, and a swimming pool that hugs the edge of the building.
The main entrance off Bridge Road boasts a two-story lobby with a green welcome wall that provides a backdrop to a monumental stair that spills down to the entry-level with an integrated casual seating area. A second level double height space connects the main entry to the green roof with the fitness and club room flanking the casual lounge area. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide an abundance of light and view of the courtyard.
