The proposed One City Schools Athletic Center is a recreation and athletic facility designed to serve both One City students and the broader community. The center was designed to feature FIFA-standard indoor soccer fields, basketball courts, climbing wall, fitness and weightlifting spaces, locker rooms, and supporting amenities. Designed as a shared community resource, the facility would provide year-round opportunities for athletics, wellness, recreation, and special events.
Designed to create a strong visual presence along the Beltline, the project features a dramatic black aesthetic, a distinctive colonnade entry, and circular skylights that establish a memorable identity while enhancing connections between interior and exterior spaces. The skylights bring in natural light while serving as a unique storytelling feature, highlighting key dates throughout the year. The design also responds to the site’s natural environment through thoughtful integration of wetlands and coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
