I see a significant need in the housing sector, and I believe it presents a valuable opportunity for me to contribute to our community. JLA is a great local business where I can grow my multifamily housing experience”.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University’s accredited Bachelor of Architecture program, Ford also studied abroad at Ecole d’Architecture in Versailles, France, further enriching his design perspective. He is licensed in Wisconsin and holds multiple professional certifications, including EDAC and LEED-AP.

Learn More About John

What drew you to architecture? What do you love about it?

From a young age, I was captivated by art and drawing. As I grew older, my interests expanded to include math and science. In high school, I took mechanical and architectural drafting classes, which I thoroughly enjoyed. These experiences solidified my desire to become an architect, as the field combines creativity and mathematics.

What’s your favorite (or most unique) project you’ve worked on and why?

One of my favorite projects was designing a birthing center and inpatient bed tower in Bethlehem, PA, for Lehigh Valley Health Network. I was pleased with the design and found the project’s large scale and complexity to be a rewarding challenge. I enjoyed building strong relationships with our client team, providing the leadership needed to achieve consensus in planning, and overcoming the challenges involved in delivering the project.

What do you do for fun? Do you have any hobbies or special interests?

For fun, I really enjoy spending time outdoors. My wife and I cherish our time together walking and hiking. Fitness is a big part of my life, and I dedicate a lot of time each day to biking or running. Every summer, I participate in a mountain bike race series and ride road bikes with the Capital Brewery Bike Club. During the warmer months, I also enjoy gardening, finding great satisfaction in creating beautiful landscapes around our property. For relaxation, I love to read.

Are you involved in the commnity? What causes/organizations mean the most to you?

I have previously volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and Logan’s Hearts and Smiles. I find great joy in supporting organizations that enhance health and wellness within our community. Recently, I have been involved with Capital Off Road Pathfinders, contributing to the improvement of mountain biking trails in our area. I also enjoy doing charity runs and bike rides that benefit various causes.
