Overview
Named for it’s location between Dayton & Mifflin Streets, The Dylin will be a boutique apart hotel featuring 55 residential-style units. Rooms will be outfitted with a kitchen and private laundry facilities. The hotel will be completely keyless and will offer 24-hour concierge services. The design incorporates the historic brick facade of the former Langer Roofing warehouse along Dayton Street. Along Mifflin Street, the new hotel connects to an existing historic home, the Reynolds Family Homestead. In addition, a new home will also be incorporated next door, also connecting to the hotel. Each of the two houses can be rented entirely or by floor; offering two units per house.
The design team navigated poor ground soils, petroleum contamination, and high water table conditions at the tight half-acre site. In addition, given the age of the Reynolds’ house and Langer roofing facade, the structural integrity of the structures was a high priority during construction requiring ongoing collaborations and troubleshooting with the structural team (including a preservation expert), a masonry specialist, and a hydrologist.
