Overview
Marriott’s defined set of plans served as a template for the hotel’s design, including basic specifications, drawings, and a detailed list of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). So although that portion of the project was streamlined, the hotel’s wetland site posed challenges to make the plans work while meeting local code implications and structural considerations. The site posed both poor soil conditions and a high-water table due to its inclusion in a 100-year flood plain. In collaboration with our structural engineering team, we designed a solution to combat flooding concerns by utilizing a geopiers system in conjunction with a crawlspace to provide adequate support for the structure.
