Overview
Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) is an economic development organization, focused on opening the doors of opportunity for individuals who face barriers accessing business resources. The design and space planning of their new Madison location was a collaborative effort to ensure a balance between the Black Aesthetic and WWBIC’s brand. These concepts were employed in the contrasting angled lines of wallcoverings, the unexpected flooring patterns, and the bold colors used throughout, while still incorporating WWBIC’s signature forest green.
The team was tasked with the design and planning of two different functional zones. Client spaces that ‘opened the doors of opportunity’ and office spaces for WWBIC staff. The public spaces—training, gathering, and one-on-one support space—were designed to be welcoming and empowering for the entrepreneurs, women, people of color, veterans, and individuals of lower wealth that WWBIC serves.
